KwaZulu-Natal is the epicentre of a poaching crisis, in the first 6 months of 2023, 231 rhinos were killed in KwaZulu-Natal, that's more than 60% of all rhinos killed in South Africa in the same time period.

World Ranger Day pays homage to rangers killed or injured in the line of duty and to celebrate the dedication and commitment of rangers who are active in the field, protecting some of the world’s most treasured species. 148 Rangers are known to have lost their lives protecting Wildlife between June 2022 and May 2023, 65 of whom were killed in the line of duty in the Africa region.

In 2023 we increased our support of the Rangers of the Bonamanzi Ranger Unit, bringing the total to 3. These 3 brave humans actively protect the species that call 10000 acres of Sand Forests, Savanna & Wetland Areas home including Black and White Rhino, Elephant, Zebra, Impala, Warthog, Giraffe, Kudu, Crocodile, Buffalo, removing snares, tracking and apprehending poachers, Performing roadblocks and gate searches to detect and prevent illegal removal of animals and animal parts from the reserve, Leading the tracking of poachers following reports of incursions on Reserves, Performing round-the-clock patrols on the reserve , Showing a presence on the ground to deter poachers and Leading the tracking and ultimate capture of two poachers.   The third ranger provides essential additional support on the reserve and enables the team to broaden their support to more reserves in the region, ultimately protecting more wildlife.

Tickets for the raffle are priced at £3.17, the cost of keeping 3 rangers on the ground in Kwazulu Natal for One Hour.

The prize will be drawn  when all tickets have been sold, or on World Ranger Day 2024, Wednesday 31st July 2024, whichever is soonest.

The prize is valid for the Snug pod on the September 6th/7th Roars, S'mores and Snore event only and cannot be transferred.
